ORDER:

Under clause 13 of the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Scheme 1994, every registered, manual worker who has completed 60 years of age is eligible for pension, if he has continued as such worker for a continuous period of not less than five years; provided that a manual worker who has not completed 60 years of age but registered with the Board for a continuous period of five years, is also eligible for pension if he has become disabled due to sickness and incapacitated from normal work. Under the said clause 13(3) the quantum of pension shall be approved by the Government.

2. The Hon'ble Chief Minister has made an announcement on 29.3.2005, on the floor of the Legislative Assembly that a Pension of the Rs. 200/- per month will be sanctioned to the eligible Construction Workers registered with the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board and that the pension will be paid to all the eligible construction workers from 2000-2001.

3. The Government after careful consideration approve the quantum of pension payable to construction workers as follows:-

(1) A sum of Rs.200/- p.m. towards pension will be sanctioned, to each eligible Construction Worker registered with the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board.

(2) The above pension scheme will be implemented from 2000-2001 and arrears of pension to the eligible construction workers, will be paid from 2000-2001.

4. The pension scheme will be implemented by the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board out of its own resources.

5. The scheme will be reviewed every three years.

6. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.101 / JS (Per) / 2005, Dated 31.03.2005.
