ORDER:

The Hon'ble Minister for Labour on 5.4.2005 made certain announcements on the floor of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly enhancing the quantum of certain benefits to the registered workers of the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers Social Security and Welfare Board. Accordingly the Commissioner of Labour has sent necessary proposal to make suitable amendment to the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers Social Security and Welfare Scheme to implement the announcements. The Government have examined the proposal of the Commissioner of Labour and issue the amendments to the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers Social Security and Welfare Scheme 2001. The appended Notification to this order will be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.

2. The Works Manager, Government Central Press, Chennai-79 is requested to send 5 copies of the Gazette in which the Notification is published

for reference and record to Government and 5 copies to the Commissioner of Labour, Chennai-6.

APPENDIX.

NOTIFICATION.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982 (Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 1982), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendments to the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers Social Security and Welfare Scheme, 2001.

AMENDMENTS.

In the said Scheme, –

(1) in clause 19, in sub-clause (1), for the expression "a sum of Rs.10,000(Rupees ten thousand only)" the expression "a sum of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees fifteen thousand only)" shall be substituted.,

(2) in clause 20,-

(i)in sub-clause (1), for items (a) and (b), the following items shall be substituted, namely:-

"(a)(i) if the daughter of the applicant is studying in 10 th standard or its equivalent, a sum of Rs.1000/-(Rupees one thousand only) ;.,

(ii) if the son or daughter of the applicant had passed the 10 th standard examination or its equivalent, a sum of Rs.1000/-(Rupees One thousand only);.,

(b) if the daughter of the applicant is studying in 11 th standard, a sum of Rs.1000/- (Rupees one thousand only),

(bb)(i) if the daughter of the applicant is studying in 12 th standard or its equivalent, a sum of Rs.1500/- (Rupees one thousand five hundred only) ;,

(ii) if the son or daughter of the applicant had passed the plus 2 examination or its equivalent, a sum of Rs.1500/-(Rupees one thousand and five hundred only) ";

(ii) for sub-clause (3), the following sub-clause shall be substituted, namely:- (3) The application for assistance specified in item(a)(ii) and (bb) (ii) of sub-clause (1) shall be in Form-IX, for assistance specified in item (a) (i), (b) and (bb) (i) of sub-clause (1) shall be in Form IX–A and for assistance specified in item (c) (d) and (e) of sub-clause (1) shall be in Form –X.";

(3) in clause 22, in sub-clause (1), for the expression

"a sum of Rs.2,000(Rupees two thousand only)",

the expression "a sum of Rs.4,000(Rupees four

thousand only)"shall be substituted;

(4) after clause 22, the following clause shall be inserted, namely:-

"22-A Assistance for purchase of spectacles by a registered manual worker.- (1) The Secretary or any other officer authorised in this behalf by the Board, shall on an application from a registered manual worker, sanction a sum not exceeding Rs.500/-(Rupees five hundred only) as an assistance towards reimbursement of cost of spectacles.

(2) The assistance shall be restricted to two thousand

registered manual workers per year on "First

come-First Serve" basis.

(3) Only the applications with full particulars and

documents as required in Form XIII shall be taken

up for consideration for the purpose of "First come

– First Serve" basis.

(4) The amount shall be sanctioned only if the

following conditions are fulfilled, namely:-

(a)This assistance shall be given to a registered

manual worker only once.

(b)The registered manual worker applying for

assistance shall have no dues payable to the

Board.

(5)The application for claiming the amount specified in

sub-clause (1) shall be in Form XIII.";

(5) in Form-VIII, ,under the heading "Sanction", for the expression

"Rs.10,000(Rupees ten thousand only)", the expression "

"Rs.15,000(Rupees fifteen thousand only)" shall be substituted;

(6) after Form IX, the following Form shall be inserted, namely:-

"FORM – IX-A.

APPLICATION FOR EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE.
