ORDER:
In connection
with the implementation of State Special Economic
Zone Policy, 2003, the Commissioner of Labour
has proposed to issue notification under the
Maternity Benefit Act, 1961(Central Act No.53
of 1961) notifying the Development Commissioners/
Officer of Labour Department deputed to work in
Special Economic Zone as ‘Inspector' under the
said Act.
2. The
Government accept the proposal of the Commissioner
of Labour to notify the Development Commissioner
/ officer of the Labour Department deputed to
work in Special Economic Zone as ‘Inspectors'
under the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 and accordingly
the appended Notification will be published in
the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.
3.The Works Manager, Government
Central Press, Chennai 600 079 is requested to
publish the Notification appended to this Government
Order in the next issue of Tamil Nadu Government
Gazette both in English and Tamil and send 5 copies
of the notification to Government for record purposes.
4. The Tamil Development, Culture
and Religious Endowments (Translation) Department,
Secretariat, Chennai 600 009 is requested to send
a copy to the Works Manager, Government Central
Press, Chennai 600 079 for publication in the Tamil

APPENDIX:
NOTIFICATION
In exercise
of the powers conferred by section 14 of the
Maternity Benefit Act, 1961(Central Act 53 of
1961) and in supersession of the Labour and Employment
Notification No.II(2) /LE/507/2000, dated the
12 th April 2000, published at page 243 of Part-II –Section
2 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, dated
the 10 th May 2000, the Governor of Tamil Nadu
hereby appoints the officers specified in column(1)
of the Table below, to be Inspectors for the
pruposes of the said Act and defines the local
limits of the jurisidiction specified in the
corresponding entries in column (2) thereof,
within which they shall exercise their functions
under the said Act.
