17th – 19th December, 2009 at MSME-Development Institute, Guindy, Chennai

Technology has become an essential tool for achieving competitiveness for the food industry in today’s business environment. Lack of technology leads to inefficiency, lower quality, and poor customer attraction and therefore lower return on capital. Technology is one of the major differentiator in business that would provide huge competitive advantage. Therefore, it is necessary to nurture and support an entrepreneur by way of technological advancement. It is technology that has been a prime mover in the spectacular industrialization of the developed countries like USA, Germany, and Japan etc. Even today it is technology that continues to spur industrial growth with increasing rapidity. But technology as such is not easy for entrepreneur to access and adopt.

A technologically vibrant, internationally competitive MSME sector need to be encouraged to emerge, to make a sustainable contribution to national income, employment and exports. As entrepreneur may not have the expertise and time to resolve all the technology related issues. A definite helping hand is required to support them. In the Indian context of farmers, processors, MSMEs and also retailers, judicious Business Facilitation is an extremely important intervention to ensure their survival as it plays an important role in determining their competitive advantage.

TNTPC intends to develop capacity of agencies to disseminate agricultural technologies through partnerships, to enhance the capacity of farmers and entrepreneurs to produce raw materials for agriculture-based industries and value-added products.
